Malham village

Here are a few phone shots from around Malham village. The decorative bird boxes made a colourful sight on the wall of a house. Not sure if birds ever use them... I imagine it's the kind of collection that, once you start it, people keep gifting you more! Talking of birds, we saw a huge flock of goldfinches on our walk. They were feeding on meadowsweet seed heads and all flew up at our approach. A flock of goldfinches is known as a 'charm', and very charming they were.

Malham Beck runs right past this house on its way from the base of the Cove. There is a ford and a clapper bridge, an ancient walkway from one side of the village to the other.

Malham still retains a red telephone box - and it seemed to be useable for its original purpose and not converted to house a defibrillator or a little library, as some have been.

The Beck Inn welcomes walkers and dogs - even, thankfully, those who arrive dripping wet from an autumn downpour!

  1. Oh my, dripping wet from an afternoon downpour probably wasn't just an aside, but must have had personal meaning! Loved these sweet soft water/village photos.
