About Saltaire

SALTAIRE, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is a "model" industrial village, built in the nineteenth century by the Victorian philanthropist Sir Titus Salt to house the workers at his textile mill. The huge mill complex now has shops, cafes and the 1853 Gallery, home to a large collection of art by renowned Bradfordian David Hockney. Saltaire United Reformed Church is one of Britain's most precious Victorian architectural treasures. The village itself, still a thriving community, remains largely unchanged since Victorian times. Saltaire is near the cities of Bradford and Leeds in West Yorkshire, in the north of England.
