Here are a few more photos from Sheila Hick's exhibition, 'Off Grid', at The Hepworth, Wakefield. Several of the pieces were reminiscent of those lovely, richly coloured skeins of embroidery thread you can buy. As with gorgeous stationery and pens, I have always rather hated to 'spoil' those by actually using them! So this was a delight to me: supersized skeins, triple dyed to give fabulous saturated colour, and woven into wall hangings and sculptures, some of which reminded me a little of paintings by Bridget Riley. They were a sensuous and aesthetic delight.
Really beautiful and colourful fabric!
