Since the beginning of the pandemic I've read numerous articles and exhortations on the need to 'be friendly' and 'be kind'... since everyone has been suffering stress to varying degrees. Sadly the appeal seems to have fallen on deaf ears in some quarters, and abuse of one kind or another - online, in the street and in homes - seems to have risen. All the more reason then to notice and dwell on the instances where people are behaving positively, with care for their fellows and for the precious world we live in.
One example is in Shipley's Northcliffe Park, where volunteers have sown a long strip of bright annuals, so attractive to bees and other pollinators. Even after it had taken a battering in a rainstorm, when I stopped to enjoy it it was alive and buzzing with insects. Who can fail to be cheered by such a lovely, colourful sight? Bee friendly. Bee kind.
As children we sang "All things bright and beautiful" and this is what comes to mind.
ReplyDeleteThose reds and blues are beautiful and I can hear the busy buzzing of bees. Whilst they are working my baskets often I go out and sit within inches of them. I like bees.
Lovely "wild" flowerbed :)
