Martin Parr Foundation

Directly (and conveniently) opposite the RPS in Bristol is the Martin Parr Foundation (MPF), founded by the photographer Martin Parr 'to support emerging, established and overlooked photographers who have made and continue to make work focused on Britain and Ireland'. It hosts events and exhibitions, holds a growing collection of photographic work and preserves the archive and legacy of Martin Parr himself, 'one of the most significant documentary photographers of post-war Britain'.

The exhibition I saw was by Kavi Pujara, a recipient of a MPF bursary to develop the project 'This Golden Mile', a photographic study of an area in Leicester that has become home to many South Asian migrant families. Colourful and touching, I enjoyed the simplicity of the images and the narrative they painted.  It was well worth seeing.

  1. It took a few moments for me to realize the cuppa photo wasn't "on" the window but just inside it. Loved these photos with SE Asians...I'm sure the exhibit was moving.

  2. Great photos and what a wonderful place to have to showcase other photographers.
