The village of Kildwick is notable for its church. The present building dates in part from the time of Henry VIII, on the site of an earlier Anglo-Saxon church. It was enlarged in the 15th and 16th centuries and restored in Victorian times. It now has the honour of being one of the longest churches in Yorkshire and is known as the Lang Kirk of Craven. (Craven is the name for this part of Yorkshire, around Skipton.)
The canal runs between the church's two burial grounds, linked by an old footbridge, and there were daffodils everywhere, making it all look quite attractive.
Imagine pulling up your anchor to find an erstwhile resident of Kildwick dangling on the end....
