A sudden shower

I got caught in a sudden, sharp shower. The drenching was almost worth it for the rainbow that appeared over Saltaire as the cloud passed over.

Sadly, the green space in the foreground has recently been earmarked for housing (despite being on a very precipitous slope and only accessible by steep, narrow streets). There are efforts being made to mobilise opposition to the plans. I would be heartbroken not only to lose the green space but also the fabulous view of Salts Mill from up here.

  1. Once someone gets the idea to build more houses there seems little that anyone can do about it.

  2. Lovely rainbow. Our little town is seeing lots turned into little lines of houses with small footprints, but as two story dwellings, they provide roomy living. So an empty half acre suddenly has four homes on it, which have prices of half a million dollars. They are snatched up too, maybe because we are a tourist attraction here in the mountains.

  4. I suppose it is only a matter of a hundred years until the banks of the lovely Yorkshire/ Lancashire waterway will be lined with none-stop housing all the way across the Pennines to the sea. Glad I will no longer around to see it.

  5. The drenching seems to have been worth it to get that beautiful rainbow show, Jenny. It's sad to read about the green space becoming housing space. Hopefully the opposition will be successful because it would be sad to lose such a view.
