Frost tinged the plants at Harlow Carr Gardens where the sun had not yet penetrated. It emphasised their shape and structure. The plant above is a hellebore, though the flowers were closed up tight against the cold. The one below had bold, broad leaves but I wasn't able to identify it.
Where the light caught these grasses, they looked like exotic sprays of diamond encrusted feathers.
Russian sage has mauve flowers in summer and then dies back to reveal the intricate, rather pretty stem structure.
Soft golden grasses, gently swaying in the breeze, were nicely set off against the grey slate path.
A slender, multi-stemmed silver birch with papery bark, emerging from a cluster of ivy, has an all-seeing eye!
Wonderful photos, especially the "exotic sprays of diamond encrusted feathers".
ReplyDeleteGreat photos today...I was enjoying the frosty ones, and then we were invited into other colors and textures! What fun!
ReplyDeleteYour fourth shot is my favourite.
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely frosty shots, Jenny.
