Night falls on Saltaire's well-known and iconic cobbled street, Albert Terrace. Lights burn in the houses. I enjoy the different colour temperatures of the various windows, though I took care to hide the glaring (newish) LED streetlight behind the shop corner! The streetlight you can still see is one of the older lamp posts though it's rather brighter than it used to be - and a hundred times brighter than a gas lamp, which it probably once was.
A beautiful shot, evoking warmth and home.
ReplyDeleteThat is lovely!
ReplyDeleteOh I just want to be behind one of those windows, warm and drinking a bit of cheer! It is a beautiful photo!
ReplyDeleteI once (voluntarily) slept in a 19th.C. Sheffield police station with steps on the corner, gas lamps, blue sign and large friendly blue policeman with gleaming black shoes. Just like Dixon of Dock Green! "Sorry, we'll have to lock you in, it's a rule of the house!" Surrounded with shining wet cobbles it all looked SO Victorian. Next morning the smiling policemen gave me a slap up breakfast and drove me to the station with my AWOL prisoner. It was a fascinating experience.
ReplyDeleteExcellent composition.
ReplyDeleteOh good. Another beautiful night shot.
