Magnolia

It's peak magnolia time around Saltaire village and in Roberts Park. So far the blooms are doing well, with little frost and wind to damage them. One with globe flowers sat prettily next to one of the stellata variety that has star-shaped blossoms.

In Roberts Park the main promenade is lined with lovely trees that get a little bigger and flower more profusely every year. They are a delight to behold.

There are also some white blossom trees in flower in the park, though I'm not sure whether these are apple or cherry. I think the cherry blossom usually comes a bit later though it also depends on where the tree is, how sheltered it is and so on.

  1. Wonderful blossoms. That magnolia has such a slim trunk to hold all that mass of flowers! Here the cherry trees bloom before apples. At least a farmer said that on TV once.

  2. What a lovely time in the town it is with the trees in blossom.

  3. These are beautiful to see in bloom especially as we are in the midst of a spring(?) nor'easter here in New England. We may see some blooms, eventually.
