Canal smiles

There's always something to see on a walk by the canal. I was amused by the plethora of signs outside one of the canalside houses in Skipton. The LLC sign is a marker that you see in many places along the canal, dating back to the earliest days of the canal in the 18th century and simply denoting - as far as I know - that this is the Leeds-Liverpool Canal. The houses and the other signs are more recent (and the fresh eggs still more recent!)  I did not see the beautiful lady or the grumpy old sod.

A little further along, a narrowboat had this rather attractive frieze painted on its prow (bow?) plus an interesting name.

'Valerie' reminded me a little of the late lamented Amy Winehouse, though a bit more demure.

Pink Bitz reeked of incense as I walked by, so clearly both its residents and its gnome were very chilled.

  1. Goodness, what great signs from that home! As for the boats...they all are so beautiful...but the Pink Bitz folks need to get into Tom Sawyer mode and get some paint brushes given to friends. They surely will attract industrious young people who want to live like they do!
