Woods and water #1

I walked the circuit of Skipton Castle Woods, which lie behind the castle itself and were at one time, effectively, its garden or at any rate its medieval hunting ground. Later, the water of Eller Beck was dammed and fed to sluices that provided power for Skipton's wool, corn and sawmills. It is now a nature reserve managed by the Woodland Trust - a wonderful, watery, leafy oasis quite near the centre of the town.

  1. It‘s beautiful! Was there really nobody else around or did you, like me, only take pictures when no other walkers were nearby?

    1. There were a few folk about but not that many. There is a family in the distance in my first photo. It depends on various things whether I include people or not.... Where they are in the scene, whether they look friendly or not etc!

  2. Just starting off with the phrase "castle woods" means this is a place of deep shadows and possibilities. You sure found some interesting ones.
