When horse and carriage was the only way for a gentleman to travel, and many goods were transported on horse-drawn carts, there was a need in Saltaire for stabling and a carriage yard. The buildings that run alongside the church drive are what remains of that stable-block. Nowadays they are rather sweet little cottages, and the residents have created a very pretty little garden outside, bedecked with bunting and colourful with hanging baskets and planted tubs. You just catch a glimpse of it through the branches of a huge tree on the boundary of Victoria Road. It's like a secret garden.
A lovely garden!
