Yorkshire holiday 6
My first coastal destination was the old fishing village of Staithes, once one of the busiest fishing ports on the north east coast, with a large sheltered harbour. At the beginning of the 20th century, there were 80 full-time fishing boats working from here; now there are just a handful of part-time fishermen.
When I first arrived, there was a sea fret (warm air condensing over the cold sea) giving an atmospheric haze. That gradually cleared and it became a very warm day, with not a breath of wind. It was far too hot for me to do the walk I'd planned along the Cleveland Way at the top of the cliffs, so I contented myself with pottering around the village, exploring the narrow alleyways.
Beautiful shots!

ReplyDeleteVery quiet.
ReplyDeleteThe fishing villages and towns along that stretch of coast are so picturesque - I've walked up there several times but have never gone with my camera.
