Saltaire Arts Trail would usually have 'open houses', where village residents allow their homes to be used as art galleries. Obviously that's not possible in these times of face masks and social distancing. Instead there was a Windows Gallery Trail, with artworks displayed to be viewed from the outside. That, of course, made them nearly impossible to photograph on a bright, sunny day! I even used a polarising filter to try and minimise the reflections in the glass but it didn't have enough effect to make them usable.
These are the only ones I can bear to post: some cute handmade birds (above) by HeatherHancockStitch who creates 2D and 3D pieces using stitching, collage and drawing techniques. Fused glass (below), kiln-fired to 800°C to create pictures and homewares, by Sarah at Garage Glass Studio.
In addition to her new studio and gallery in Bingley, Saltaire artist Paula Dunn (see HERE) has a wonderful little glasshouse in her garden, displaying her evocative, almost abstract landscape paintings. I've been following her progress for many years and her work has grown so much in style and confidence. During lockdown, she has been making some small works in the series 'The Light of 100 Days' and 'New Beginnings'. The latter collection (HERE) especially appeals to me. I might be saving up to treat myself to one!
The glasshouse is really sweet!
