Ingleton Waterfalls Trail: Twistleton Lane is an old Roman Road, with far-reaching views. It's said that from here, on a clear day, you can see Morecambe Bay on the west coast, and there are views too of Ingleborough, one of Yorkshire's Three Peaks. It was topped in cloud and mist but you can probably just see its peak rising above the fells.
In the photo below, beyond where the track drops away, you maybe able to see in the distance the buildings at the entrance to White Scar Caves, a long cave system that snakes through the limestone under Ingleborough. I visited there with my family a couple of years ago (see HERE and HERE).
Beautiful landscapes!
ReplyDeleteThe view has a philospophical atmosphere.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh Jenny what a wonderful walking trail, loved the pics from last two posts also. My husband would be green with envy, this is exactly the kind of terrain he enjoys. 5 miles is the perfect distance also ✨
ReplyDeleteIn the seventies a dedicated 3-Peaks walker wrote a book called "I Bought a Mountain" describing his experiences. He dug a leat which led run-off water downhill to drive a small water turbine which provided heat and light to his stone shepherds cottage during the bitter snowy winters on the side of his mountain.
ReplyDeleteThat is a great view!
ReplyDeleteThese are lovely views and the clouds over the mountains added a perfect backdrop, Jenny.
ReplyDeleteLovely green Yorkshire.
