More signs of Spring

A few days of sunshine and showers have guaranteed that the progress of nature's unfolding Spring continues at speed. All of a sudden, blossom is everywhere. The river by Roberts Park looked subtly colourful in the diffused sunlight, with a misty quality, almost as if it was all holding its breath. Cherry trees in the park are coming into flower.

Crocuses have long since shrivelled and the daffodils are fading, to be replaced by snakeshead fritillaries; such extravagant-looking plants, with the purple ones having characteristic chequerboard markings on their nodding heads.

As well as cherry blossom, the apple trees are in bloom, pretty against a soft blue and white sky.

  1. Yay, blossoming time! THey do make a fairy-tale feeling for me. A unicorn might be just behind that tree.

  2. You certainly do have beautiful spring blooms, Jenny. The apple blooms against the blue sky were lovely.
