Honestly, I have so many photos stored up that I'm getting really behind and, at this rate will be posting pictures of bare winter trees when we're in the middle of a heatwave! Added to which I wasn't going to go overboard with bluebell pictures this year. And then... I came across this vista on one of my walks and it has to be the prettiest woodland I've ever seen. With a stream running through and a wonderful mixture of bluebells, frothy wild garlic and a few wood anemones thrown in for good measure, it is the epitome of a perfect English woodland in May.
It has to be said that it wasn't easy to find a good vantage point, which was a little frustrating. The paths were sketchy and I really try to avoid walking on the plants as it ruins them, not only for this year but into the future. So I literally 'tiptoed through' the bluebells (rather than tulips!) to get this shot. The wood is Lob Wood, between Addingham and Bolton Abbey, not far off the Dalesway long distance footpath. I'm almost hesitating to name it, as it would be a tragedy if hordes of photographers descended and trampled all over it. There are easier places to see bluebells. It is soooo pretty though....
All the tiptoeing was worth the effort; you found a superb angle. I only wish that all photographers were so careful where they walked.
