Walking back to my friend's house from Royds Hall, we passed by Royds Hall Dam, also known as Park Dam. This was originally one of two holding basins for the vast Low Moor Ironworks. Now disused, it has been partially infilled to the north side for houses to be built. The remainder is used as a fishing lake.
It's remarkable how pastoral these old industrial sites can become.
