The trees and shrubs may have lost their leaves but, on the small nature reserve managed by Hirst Wood Regeneration Group, they have gained a sprinkling of festive baubles instead.
There were some volunteers diligently barrrowing loads of bark chippings from where they'd been delivered at the gate across to the far side of the reserve, so there weren't as many birds around as there often are. One of the resilient woodpigeons was, however, keeping guard. They're not afraid of anything, it seems!

I get a pair of woodpigeons on my kitchen windowsill where I put out seeds for the birds, but they are very wary of me - even if (with the window closed) I just walk past the open kitchen door inside my flat, they flutter away in a hectic flurry of wings.
ReplyDeleteThe volunteers have done a very nice job of decorating the reserve for Christmas - not too much, not too gaudy, no blinking lights, just a nice touch, almost as if the trees and shrubs had grown those baubles themselves for this time of year.
How fun to decorated the bare trees!
ReplyDeletePeople here hang baubles in the trees in open spaces. it’s happening more and more. Often I see pots of Christmas plants left beside memorial park benches too. I like both gestures.
ReplyDeleteThe Christmas decorations are fun.
