The Bookshop

It's somewhat odd that, now I no longer live in Saltaire village itself (though still only half a mile away), my relationship with it has subtly changed. Walking down there, whether to the park or into Salts Mill, now feels to have a little more 'adventure' about it. I feel doubly grateful - and proud - to be so near and to be able to enjoy the sights and experiences that other people travel miles to visit. (This being a World Heritage Site.)

During the cold and dull winter months, a visit to the Mill never fails to act as a 'pick-me-up' and mood booster. That's especially true if I allow myself a wander and a browse in the bookshop... though I do have to keep a rein on my spending! I LOVE books.

  1. I love books too. I could spend all day in a bookshop! Over the years I’ve found some lovely bookshops. One of my favourites, called P&G Wells, is in Winchester; it’s behind the cathedral. I discovered it many years ago and would always make a beeline for it when visiting the city. Another is in Bath…’Topping and Company’..oh how I love that bookshop! Sal

  2. I remember how wonderful that bookshop was when we visited Saltaire.

  3. My favourite bookshop is The Little Ripon Bookshop in - suprise! - Ripon. I don't think I have ever left there without buying at least one book (mostly more), but I have to be careful because my suitcase has only so much extra space, and I am not good at carrying heavy luggage.
